Dr. Eng. IR. Taufiq Bin Nur, S.T., M.Eng.Sc.

Founder of Research Group

Bio-energy and System Fuel Cell Research Group was formed in 2018 by Dr.Eng. IR. Taufiq Bin Nur, S.T., M.Eng.Sc. This research center is located in the Master of Mechanical Engineering Building, University of North Sumatra, first floor. Those who participated in this research group since the beginning of its establishment were 38 S1 students and S2 students and collaborated with several mechanical engineering lecturers and across departments. The focus of research conducted in this research group is studies related to bio-energy and fuel cell systems.

The results of the creations of the bioenergy research group and the fuel cell system include pyrolysis systems, furnaces for combustion, bioethanol production, distillers to purify bioethanol, engines to study alternative fuel results, organic rankine cycles to convert wasted heat to useful power, energy monitoring tools for energy audits. In this research group, there are also tools that will be tested such as material modification and in collaboration with a European company, Pyropower. At this time, this research group will conduct research to study related to biomass pyrolysis in producing hydrogen.
