History of USU Mechanical Engineering

In 1962, the leadership of the Faculty/University assigned several people to explore the development and expansion of the education system at the Faculty of Engineering USU (Faculty of Engineering USU was established in 1959 with the decree of the Minister of Education, Teaching and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 83303/S dated August 26, 1959). This was done because of the urgent need for Mechanical Engineering graduates regionally and nationally. In July 1962, through the Secretary of the Faculty (Prof. A. T. Barus, M.Sc.), the Head of the Faculty of Engineering issued a decree and at the same time formed a Preparation Team for the Opening of the Mechanical Department at the Faculty of Engineering USU. Until 1970, the Mechanical Engineering study program first graduated engineers with the first alumni named Muhammad Nur Abdullah.
