Association of Mechanical Engineering Alumni of Universitas Sumatera Utara (IKATM-USU) region Jabodetabek held an event to review a book entitled "From the Perspective of Strategic Management: Knowledge, Innovation and Entrepreneurship" by Dr. Ir. Manerep Pasaribu. The book review occurred at JW Marriot Hotel last Saturday.
Chairman of IKATM_USU, Helman Sembiring said that sharing insight and knowledge in this family intimacy is a form of commitment from the mechanical engineering alumni of Universitas Sumatera Utara.
The event is not only attended by the alumni of mechanical engineering but also by electrical, civil, industry, and architectural engineering. "So it is expected that with this meeting, the alumni of both young and senior will be stronger and more serious and confident to be able to make breakthroughs in business," said Helman.
In addition, support from academics and practitioners who are members of an alumni network is a tremendous asset to this forum. "So, the Mechanical Engineering Universitas Sumatera Utara alumni, especially those in the Jabodetabek area, which have not been able to attend and establish communication, the door of communication is wide open. For our main alumni brothers and sisters rebuilding the Forever Machine Solidarity", Helman said.
Manerep Pasaribu explained that his book encourages the growth of entrepreneurs so that they can participate in developing the country. "This book, the first, is for teaching the students. Second, creating entrepreneurs so they can build the country is the key," he said. In the United States, said Manerep, entrepreneurial growth reached 11 percent. Then China has 10 percent, and even Malaysia has gained 3 percent. Meanwhile, Indonesia only reached 1.65 percent.
"We do need more entrepreneurs in Indonesia since entrepreneurs are those who can make a country grow. This has been proven by other developing countries", Manerep said. Jonner Napitupulu appreciates this book. He believes the book can inspire the birth of new entrepreneurs in Indonesia. "At least this book provides practical standards on how to do business and run a business. So this book provides a way out as a businessman," Jonner said.
