The Mechanical Technology Laboratory or often referred to as the Production Process Laboratory is 1 of the 16 active laboratories in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of North Sumatra. The Mechanical Technology / Production Process Laboratory has the main function of supporting student academic activities in the form of practicum and research. Supporting courses that are directly related to practicum activities in the Mechanical Technology Laboratory are production process courses, in which there are the basics of the production process, starting from the planning process, the use of basic machinery tools to finishing workpieces with the help of production machines. This laboratory is equipped with several lathes, freis machines, absorbent machines, drilling machines, grinding machines, electric welding, and some bench work tools. The Mechanical Technology Laboratory is not only to support research activities for lecturers and students, especially the process of making specimens using the tools contained in it. In addition, this laboratory activity also trains students' abilities and skills in operating production machines directly as a provision of expertise for students later.
