Thursday, November 23, 2017, Lustrum XI, the Department of Mechanical Engineering Universitas Sumatera Utara, was held at the Grandika Hotel. In this Lustrum XI, the Department of Mechanical Engineering USU held workshops and seminars on engineering business and community service, namely blood donation and providing the needs to the people at Sinabung. In this activity, the Department of Mechanical Engineering of USU expects to encourage USU’s accreditation to be better.
Lustrum XI Mechanical Engineering Department, Universitas Sumatera Utara, attended by Brigadier General TNI (Ret.) Dr.. Hj. Nurhajizah Marpaung, S.H., M.H. as the Deputy Governor of North Sumatra; Ir. Nurdin Tampubolon, M.M., as the Member of the Indonesian Parliament; Prof. Dr Runtung Sitepu, S.H., M. Hum., as USU Rector; Prof. Ir. Seri Maulina, MSi PhD as the Dean of the USU Faculty of Engineering; Ir. Jamsaton Nababan as the President Director of PT Pertamina; Dr. Ir. M. Sabri, MT. HDI. ASEAN Eng., as the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering USU; IR. H. Irman Oemar, M.Si., as the Head of Bappeda SUMUT, and several lecturers and students of USU Mechanical Engineering Department.
At the event, the Deputy Governor of North Sumatra said, “We hope that every year universities can hold seminars both national and international. Because we expect for suggestions and insights from research and program results to encourage the acceleration of North Sumatra’s development, the Provincial Government cannot run alone, so it requires support, especially from universities”.
Meanwhile, USU’s Rector, Runtung Sitepu, appreciated USU’s Mechanical Engineering alumni who had worked hand to oversee the Mechanical Engineering accreditation process so that they managed to achieve A accreditation in 2016. “Currently, from 156 study programs at USU, 45 study programs have received accreditation A, 83 study programs have been accredited B, and the rest have been accredited C, and some have not been accredited,” said Runtung while saying that seminars like this would undoubtedly be able to boost USU’s accreditation from B to A.
