Shell Eco-marathon (SEM) Asia 2017 was held at Changi Exhibition Center, Singapore, on March 16-19th, 2017. SEM is a competition that challenges university student teams from various countries in the Asia Pacific and the Middle East to compete in designing, building, and driving the world’s most energy-efficient vehicles in Singapore.
This year for the first time, Singapore hosted the “Make The Future Singapore 2017” (MTFS) festival, which showcases energy-related ideas and innovations that address the global energy challenge to produce cleaner, low-CO2 emissions.
MTFS will feature three interactive zones, namely “Our Energy Future“, “On The Move”, and “Live, Work, Play“. Through interaction and hands-on experience in these zones, visitors are expected to learn about the world’s energy future, from renewable energy to natural gas and low-carbon technologies, about Asia’s brightest ideas and witness celebrity performances on the main stage. In this SEM, Horas Team became one of the representatives for Indonesia.
In this SEM, Team Horas brought 2 cars, which are cars that have been well tested in the selection before entering this SEM. Team Horasa’s car has a black-coloured stature. It has lists in the form of Batak ulos to display the characteristics of the ethnicity in North Sumatra, the Batak ethnicity. in the SEM, the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department of USU also accompanied the students who competed in SEM 2017.
